So I’m not the biggest NFL fan but I have followed the play offs this yr and I’m so ready for Sunday … I don’t have a favorite team, I just want to see great games played. Although, Rutgers has a few Alumni still playing, Nate Jones, Devin McCourty, Tiquan Underwood all play for the Patriots, Ray Rice plays for the Ravens, and Anthony Davis for the 49ers, so I got to support all. BUT since Ray Rice wears number 27, which is one of my favorite numbers in the world, I might be rooting a little harder for the Ravens … Bring on the Superbowl! Wish I was in Indianapolis for the Superbowl, but it’s all good cause from home I get to see all the plays up close, oh and can’t forget the commercials
The Final 4, Giants, 49ers, Patriots, Ravens. Win or go home!

A week into the New Year and I’m excited. 2011 was good but I’ll admit I made my share of mistakes Although that’s what life is about, right. Well of course how we make our mistake is important. Sometimes we learn more from our mistakes and failures than we do from doing things right, BUT only if we are willing to learn from them. Mistakes are inevitable, however when you live, speak and act from a place within your heart, your purest source… there should be no regret, in spite of the mistakes you make. No matter what tomorrow brings get value from it, learn and apply.

Learn from the past and BELIEVE!!! It’s going to be a great year. Are you ready for what 2012 has to offer? … FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION

The gift of LIFE is the best gift. I love being home for Christmas. The visiting of family and friends, the sales in every department store, and of course the good eats .

I found myself in the kitchen early Christmas morning helping my mom cook, first it was Christmas breakfast and then we prepared Christmas dinner. Talk about a long day, but it’s so worth it.

Thanking God I have such a wonderful family to celebrate this holiday season with. I’m so blessed. Looking forward to one day extending my family and celebrating holidays with little Tammy Sutton-Brown’s running around

Taking it back to where it all started.

It was in the gym at Armadale Public School that I was first introduced to the game. At 6’0 in the 7th grade I was taller than everyone in the school, including most of the teachers. So it only fit that I try out for the basketball team even though I had never picked up a basketball before, right? Well basketball stuck and I have been playing ever since. Yesterday I found myself back at my old elementary school preparing to read my new book, CREE AND SCOOTER HIT THE SLOPES IN BRITISH COLUMBIA, to the kids.

Of course Cree and Scooter had to join me . We had a blast, I’m really happy kids are enjoying THE ADVENTURES OF CREE AND SCOOTER.

So I thought all I was going to do at my old school was read, but to my surprise, Armadale Public School dedicated their new basketball courts to me. Man was I caught off guard when they raised a Tammy Sutton-Brown banner in the gym, my eyes started to tear up as I saw my name. It was at that moment I looked out at all the grade 4-8 students that sat in the gym during the dedication presentation, and all I could think of was how I was once just like them. I once sat exactly where they sat on the gym floor. WOW, I have come a long way, I have been blessed with so much.

The kids were all attentive as I spoke to them about the importance of education, hard work, goal setting and believing in themselves.
I DARE YOU WHO IS READING THIS.
I dare you to encourage and motivate a child today. I double dare you to inspire and teach a child to follow their dreams, I triple dare you to make a difference in a child today, build all these qualities into them and encourage them to achieve success.
Try to make a difference in someone’s life today. We can all positively impact the life of another.

Yeaaaa the NBA is back!

I found myself at the Air Canada Center today for the Toronto Raptors 1st exhibition game. The game of basketball is filled with ups and downs. Toronto had a nice run at the end of the game taking the lead with about 2 mins showing their fans the talent that is on this yrs team, unfortunately the lead was short lived as Boston ended up winning . No worries though we will get them next time. Exhibition games are really just practice games, cut down on the turnovers and the Raptors will be good. I’m sure it was just preseason jitters today anyhow . With a number of new additions to the team it will take a few more practices for the team to completely gel, but I do know that this season is going to be fun and exciting to watch.Can’t wait for the season opener. OH, the Raptors take on the Pacers Dec 28th hmmmmmmm who shall I cheer for then?

Back on Campus

I can’t remember the last time I was on a college campus. It felt so good to be back at Rutgers. Driving to the RAC was a little challenging with all the construction going on, but I eventually found my way, lol. Man I can’t believe it has been 10 years since I graduated, wow how time flies ( Am I really that old? LOL ). Coach Stringer is one of my fav people in the world so it is always great to see her. After all these years coaching she still has the same intensity for the game, guess that is why she is so great. She has a really good group of girls who I enjoyed watch play Tues night, RUTGERS vs TENN. The game was so exciting to watch ( as I knew it would be, because it was 2 of the greatest coach’s in the game going head to head ). Unfortunately Rutgers lost BUT they did play hard and I was proud of them. I can’t remember the last time I attended a college basketball game because I’m usually playing overseas this time of year, but I had so much fun. I enjoyed every min I was on campus . Maybe one day I’ll go back and get my masters. Key word, MAYBE

2011 WNBA Play-offs

This is the best time of the season. Love my Fever girls, so proud of them tonight, but you can’t get 2 high or 2 low in this game. Back to work tomorrow, 1 win down, 6 more to go for the championship.

BACK IN CHARLOTTE FOR THE 1ST TIME IN 4 YEARS

Staying busy these days but I’m not complaining, it’s better to be busy than bored, right? So when I was asked by a friend if I could travel to Charlotte for her foundation fundraiser, although I was busy, I could not say no. I could not say no because it was all for a great cause. The newly announced Belva Wallace Greenage Cancer Foundation will raise awareness about alternative therapies, pay for the therapies for patients who can’t afford it and fund research to clinically prove the benefits. So a quick trip to Charlotte, NC, was a must. The Belva Wallace Greenage Cancer Foundation was having it’s 1st ever fundraiser and I was not gonna miss it. It was a great evening. Cancer is a disease that has affected the lives of so many, the good thing is that new treatments/medications are being discovered every year. Belva is someone I have looked up to for a while, she is a strong woman who has chosen to live and so the foundation was born. OCTOBER

October is one of my favorite months. 1, because it falls in the Fall season and I love the changing of the leaves. 2, because Thanksgiving takes place this month ( Canadian Thanksgiving and 3, because of Halloween Probably the one time of the year you can be crazy, silly and extra creative and people not think you’re really crazy. LOL. With that said the other night I went to a Zombie Apocalypse, now it was my idea, but I think I ended up being the most scared. Don’t know what I was thinking. LOL. Inside a 100k-sqft abandoned truck stop on 35 acres I found myself sprinting down long hallways running from zombies screaming as they chased me from one room to the next. Talk about a work out, I left that place soaked of sweat. As scared as I was I must say that it was a lot of fun ( that is after I went home and watched a comedy to take my mind off what I had just been through … All and all I think I would do it again. MAYBE

TIME OFF

It has been a few weeks since my last post , and I have no excuses other than being on an extended vacation after the Fever season ended sooner than I thought it would. Rest, relaxation, I finally decided my body needed a break after playing year round for the last 9 years. So instead of heading overseas this year I am focusing on my book. Inspired by my extensive travel over the years I decided to write a children’s book. A story that will enable young readers to challenge their imagination as they learn about various languages, cultures, and histories of places around the world. This project is my baby so I’m so excited about it, BUT, things are still in the production stage so stay tuned for the link to the website and release date.
